  We stopped here for dinner early without a reservation. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and the service was great. Prices were reasonable.

  La Lanterna has been a staple of the Assisi dining scene and has in recent years expanded considerably. Their menu remains top notch - especially their pizzas and pastas. One... read more note: if you’re dining inside to escape the summer heat, make sure they’ll leave the air conditioning on. We got to sweat through a dinner because they shut off the AC 45 minutes before closing. Fortunately, for most of the year the outdoor tables are delightful regardless, and their servers are friendly.

  Our family consisted of 4 people. 2 ordered pizzas, 2 ordered Caesar salads. The restaurant was not busy and there were plenty of empty tables.

The 2 that ordered... read more their pizzas got theirs, but the salads didn't arrive. The 2 eventually started their pizzas, uncomfortable not to wait until the whole table was served.

After about 20 minutes, we asked a waiter where the 2 salads were and he just shrugged. After another 10 minutes the Caesar salads arrived. Made with iceberg lettuce and pieces of stale bread that hadn't even been toasted and barely any dressing.

To add insult to injury, the waitress arrived to clear the plates before 1 person still eating the salad had finished. She literally reached across her plate to grab another. Such a lack of service.

Very disappointing.
